SEBASTOPOL FOOTBALL & NETBALL CLUB

What do the Australian cricket teams 2006/07 summer of cricket vs England and Sebastopol FC's weekend vs Redan have in common?

If you answered clean sweep and /or white wash, you would be correct.

The under 19's started the day with a character building 9 point win, managing to hold on for what was easily their best win for the year against the 4th placed Redan. Lucas Blazko and Mitch Baker were instrumental in the win with slick ball movement in the forward half, both lads kicking multiple goals. Kyle Henderson, Forbsey and Coop Littlehales were all amongst the best players on ground.

The scooby doos made it 5 on the Jonathon Trott with another nail biting 1 point victory (second for the season). It was the boys with senior experience that shone through and flexed when it was required. Riley O'Keefe played his one and only ever reserves game. He was best on ground by a country mile. Ben Trew had the ball on a string in his 100th, Butsy kicked the match winner, McNab and Wilks were rocks in defence.

The seniors chalked up the final win of the day, holding out the fast finishing Redan by 9 points. Tucka Harvey provided the spark during the 2nd qtr with 2 goals in 2 minutes, a purple patch that would rival Stewy Dew's 2008 AFL grand final performance. Jed Hill and Rusty Keeble kicked 3 apiece, whilst Widge, Jack Bambury and Grady Snowden were amongst the best players on ground.

Netball Notes:

Over on the courts the under 19's started the morning off with a loss. They unfortunately lost by 12 goals. Courtney Ball was good in the forward third whilst Rhyley Bath provided great ball movement in centre court.

E grade got the first win of the day, doubling their opponents score and winning by 11 goals. Kirsty Green and Isla Briggs were a force under the ring shooting 12 goals and 9 goals respectively.

D grade suffered a 9 point loss, it was the usual suspects in Rylee Kelly and Alana Hepworth who played well on the day.

C grade got a win for their all-time fave team mate Bridget Brady who played her 150th club game. In a post-match press conference Coach Nikki Allen said " I know as a coach I'm not supposed to have favourites, but Bridge is by far my favourite, and did'nt she play well. Wowee!!

B grade were unable to get on the winners list. But netball isn't all about winning. It's about trying your best and having fun, and the girls were certainly doing that. Indy Sheridan shot well, whilst Rachel Vagg and Gina Boehm were great higher up the court.

A grade were also unable to get a W. From the get go the defence were under fire, Dizzy and Nikki were tremendous and tried their utmost hardest all game.
