Here are some tips for what you can do to avoid distracted driving:
- When possible, install the ‘do not disturb’ function on your phone – watch this step by step guide on how to install https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40xSpE6il3s
- Put your phone out of reach such as in the glovebox or boot of the car.
- Turn your phone on silent, or turn it off completely when driving.
- As a passenger, speak up and call out bad behaviour when you see it. Encourage others to be safe.
When travelling at 50 km per hour, a glance down at your phone means you'll travel up to 28 metres blind.
Whether driving for work or outside of work duties, we all have a role to play in supporting the TAC in their vision of zero deaths and serious injuries on our roads.
